They're still goshdarn cute, but lowering my rating to two stars due to flawed design... wishing we'd gotten a different set instead.
Original review: We saw these when we were building our wedding registry and thought they were absolutely adorable! You squeeze the ears to grind & dispense the salt & pepper. They're a great idea, but not perfectly implemented. The shakers are rather balanced and thus don't stand up very well, so they're not great for table use (we use the magnet on the back to keep on the fridge). Also, since they dispense on the bottom of shaker, they leave some salt/pepper residue on the table. Five stars for awesome cuteness (my husband likes them even better than I do!), minus two stars for impractical design, plus one star because really, did I...Read more By Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?) This review is from: Chef'n G'Rabbit Jr. Salt and Pepper Set, Set of 2, Black and Meringue (Kitchen) I bought these as a cute novelty item, but I loved them only before I started using them.It has been said before - they're very delicate and it does seem like the bunny ears will just break off, the mechanism works rather gritty and you have to squeeze it a lot harder than you would want to considering the flimsy plasic it's made of. The grinders do not do the best job either, the pepper grinder especially leaves chunky flakes or even halves of smaller peppercorns, which is not what I expected. The amount of either salt or pepper that comes out is really scarce and to be honest between the chunky bits and the times you have to bunny-ear-squeeze over a boiling pot of whatever you're attempting to flavor, I was really rethinking the cuteness factor and considered chucking these out straight away. I did keep them - they looked adorable on the counter - but probably after about a month one ear on the salt grinder broke off and that was it for me. Would not recommend...Read more Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?) This review is from: Chef'n G'Rabbit Jr. Salt and Pepper Set, Set of 2, Black and Meringue (Kitchen) Bought these about a year ago and they're certainly adorable. At this point the rubber grips on the white rabbit's ears have yellowed, but that's the least of the problem with this product. Basically, they don't serve their function as salt and pepper grinders well at all. The grinding mechanism is plastic and, especially in the case of the pepper bunny, it just doesn't have enough power or grab to produce much ground spice.
I don't use salt and pepper very often, but I'm definitely looking into a new set, because the output on these teensy. |
