I GAVE THESE AS A GIFT AND I DEFINITELY WOULDN'T HAVE IF I COULD HAVE SEEN THEM "IN PERSON" FIRST. CHEAPLY MADE AND CHEAP LOOKING. I WAS EMBARRASSED WHEN I VISITED AND SAW WHAT I HAD GIVEN. THEY DIDN'T EVEN USE THEM FOR SALT AND PEPPER, BUT FOR DECORATION ON THEIR BOOKSHELF!!

I love the look but the salt and pepper shakers do not hold enough salt or pepper to be functional, not a good idea if you want actual salt and pepper shakers

These were bought as a birthday gift for a friend of mine who teaches high school French. Her birthday isn't until October, so she hasn't seen them yet. I like them very much & hope she will also. They came quickly & were in excellent condition. I'm not sure why the previous reviewer was concerned that the set was on a self, because this is where my friends that collect salt & pepper sets place their collectables. These sets are infrequently used, but are placed on selves to be looked at & admired.
