A sort of yin and yang quality to it. Yes, it is made of plastic...but it is a solid acrylic plastic, and easy to clean. Most importantly, the grinder mechanisms seem quite tough and have held up well. You can adjust each end for coarser/finer grinds with ease. It is simple to fill, also. I enjoy having my sea salt and peppercorns right together when I'm cooking. I am a cook and use it daily at home. I have mine within easy reach of my stove, and it travels easily to the table. The price is great and it looks very nice to me. 18 of 18 people found the following review helpful: By S.R.Mendenhall (Sunny Southern California) - See all my reviews Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?) This review is from: KitchenArt 80310 Dual Ended Salt and Pepper Grinder, Satin (Kitchen) I agree with other reviewers that this product looks a bit cheap. But maybe, sometimes, so do I. I've loaded big sea salt crystals in one side and black peppercorns in the other (next time perhaps tricolor peppercorns) and it's nice to have two of my favorite and most essential seasonings in one grinder. This is handy when you're grinding salt over your popcorn and you want that really fine salt texture, or when you're standing next to the table with a white cloth folded over your arm, asking your dinner guests, "would you care for some fresh cracked pepper?" and you can load up their Caesar salad with more chunky pepper than maybe they really wanted. (Okay, I don't think anyone really does that at home, but you could, if you wanted to, I suppose, but then they may laugh at your plastic grinder. But I digress.) At this price, you could probably get one or two more...Read more 18 of 19 people found the following review helpful: By This review is from: KitchenArt Dual Ended Salt and Pepper Grinders (Kitchen) Looks great in the photos, but when I got it I was fairly underwealmed. The "metallic" end caps are "silver-ish" plastic, and it feels as cheap as it looks. It functions OK, but I will probably find a nicer one for cooking and serving, and send this one to the patio to use when grilling. |
