Amazon.com Review
This electric pepper mill has a modern shape that is beautiful to behold and and a superior grinding mechanism that meets the expectations of picky chefs. The mill has a brushed 18/10 stainless steel body with a glass window for monitoring how many peppercorns remain in the chamber. Pressing the button on top of the electric pepper mill commences grinding and pepper output. A lamp at the bottom lights up during grinding so that, even at a dimly lit dining table, you can always see how much pepper is landing on your green salad or salmon fillet. The grinder has a patented carbon steel grinding gear for long-lasting use and a dial on the underside of the mill controls the fineness of the grind (clockwise for fine and counter-clockwise for coarse). A plastic lid covers the grinder opening when the mill is at rest on a table or countertop. The electric pepper mill runs on six AAA batteries (not included) and the locking housing cover twists and lifts to expose the battery housing for installation. The battery housing also easily lifts from the base to refill the supply chamber with peppercorns. The grinder is suitable only for peppercorns and no other spices and is covered by a one-year guarantee on electric components and a lifetime guarantee on the grinding mechanism. --Cristina Vaamonde
Summary: Slower than I thought it would be. 2010-07-23
Comment: I started smoking meats so I need a lot of fresh ground pepper; sometimes 3 or 4 tablespoons at a time for a rub recipe. I bought this unit to speed up that process but I found I can grind it faster by hand. If you want this unit to have on the table for your guests I suppose it would be OK. But, you have to hold it a long time if you want a good dose of fresh ground pepper. A hand grinder is faster.

Comment: Good service and fast shipping. The product looks like very good quality, but I found the cheaper ones I bought at the same time seem to grind better. Only time can tell the durability between this grinder and the cheaper one. If this one last longer, than it is a better buy than the cheaper one - I hate things breaking down.

Comment: "18/10 brushed stainless steel with glass peppercorn chamber"
Incorrect, the chamber is PLASTIC, I find that very disappointing as it was one of the features I was looking for. The SS is, well, what China puts out to the masses... as for functionality, it seems to mill fairly well and quickly. My unit probably needs to be broken in a little as the grain consistency is a bit hit and miss, this is to be expected on brand new grinding mechanism. Got it on the 4 for 3 deal, so I guess the price was alright for what you get in the end.

Summary: Broke after 2 weeks... 2010-03-07
Comment: Nice pepper mill, but not durable. Within 2 weeks it got stuck on a particularly hard pepper kernel and it twisted itself into a mangled mess. I was able to remove the top, secure it with tape, and use it for another 6 months before the issue repeated itself and the motor came to a final halt. It looks good and it worked well, those first two week. Would never buy it again.
