Summary: Handsome and functional 2010-03-05
Comment: I've been using this salt & pepper shaker set for a couple of months and am very happy I got them. They are nice & heavy, good quality construction, and the brushed nickel looks good out on the counter with my stainless steel appliances. The grind on the pepper mill can be adjusted. You need to use a fine grain salt with the salt shaker. Its holes are pretty small & it takes maybe a little too much shaking to get much salt out of it -- which may be a good thing for those on a salt-restricted diet!

Comment: PEPPER GRINDER
I've owned seven or more pepper grinders over the years. Every one was a letdown. Dinner was cold by the time enough pepper was ground. I was determined to get it right this time. Searches located plenty of highly rated grinders north of $60. Not gonna happen. Then this Olde Thompson grinder (with salt shaker) turned up for 20 bucks. It had 12 out of 12 positive reviews at the time. I was still skeptical, but I decided to take a chance on it. The Olde Thompson unit is one pepper grinding sonofa... Each full rotation produces 1/9 tsp of ground pepper. My old grinder produced 1/80 tsp for each revolution. FYI, I don't normally go around measuring pepper grinder efficiency, but I thought you might use this data to confirm how much your grinder sucks. Oh, it doesn't spit out icebergs either.
SALT SHAKER
Well, it's a salt shaker. Works as expected. The bottom-fill on the salt shaker doesn't bother me at all.
CONCLUSION
If you have been looking for a quality grinder at a very reasonable price, then get this one. Consider the salt shaker a free bonus, and you'll still be happy.

Comment: I purchased this set of salt & pepper shakers for my newly remodeled kitchen. The stainless steel shakers fit in beautifully...modern & clean design. They hold a generous amount of spices and I couldn't be happier with my purchase. The price was good and the quality even better than I expected. Happy to give my highest recommendation to these shakers. I'm sure anyone who purchases them will be pleased.

Comment: Owned a few pepper grinders. First one was great, but gears broke. Second one was light and horrible. So I know what a bad pepper grinder is like. This one is great. Bought the set for the pepper grinder, salt shaker is fine.
