This Athena 8 inch copper/brass pepper mill is hand made in Greece using the same methods used for the past 300 years with durable all metal bodies and a tool steel grinding mechanism built to last. Athena mills are the origin of the phrase "pepper grinder", since these mills actually grind the pepper. Common pepper mills only smash the peppercorns, which severely limits the flavor release. The Athena mill is a unique piece of European tradition that is functionally the best in the world!

These mills really excel in two ways. Their heft and beauty are impressive. I have no doubt one of my kids will be happily using this long after I'm gone.

Secondly, it makes every other grinder I've used look like a toy. It really shines in the kitchen, where I can grind enough for a ten serving dish in seconds. You can't do that with your regular table top grinder, not by a long shot.

Expensive, yes, but a good value.

Bought this for my husband's birthday and he is very particular about his pepper grinder. He loves it! It is made extremely well and displays very nicely on our kitchen counter. Well worth the money spent- much nicer than what you can buy at kitchen stores.
