Product Review
Product Description
This Atlas 10 inch brass pepper mill is hand made in Greece using the same methods used for the past 300 years with durable all metal bodies and a tool steel grinding mechanism built to last. Atlas mills are the origin of the phrase "pepper grinder", since these mills actually grind the pepper. Common pepper mills only smash the peppercorns, which severely limits the flavor release. The Atlas mill is a unique piece of European tradition that is functionally the best in the world!

Before I buy anything, I do a lot of research. I spent well over four hours online and talked to two very good amateur chefs/retired cooks who owned seven and twelve different brands of pepper grinders and both recommended an Atlas pepper mill. Well worth ~$100, grinds exceptionally fine and very fast! Its quite heavy as well. Wasn't really easy to fill (used a funnel) but it holds so much pepper and you need so little when it grinds this fine it doesn't matter. Every time I use it I grin ear-to-ear.
American soldiers supposedly used this pepper mill in WWII to grind coffee. I believe it!

This is a sturdy, keep for a lifetime, works perfectly kitchen and dining room pepper grinder that is both lovely to see and hold, as well as, doing its job. Easy to fill and easy to work, with large storage of the peppercorns. You will hand this down to a family member. Had mine 20 years, no change in design, just gave one as a wedding gift. Timeless quality and appeal.

The unit I received deposited numerous brass shavings into the pile of grounds. The problem didn't noticeably slow with grinding use. That's NOT RIGHT! The customer help telephone number listed on the box was inactive. That's NOT RIGHT. The unit seems to bear the name of a false demi-god. If so... YO That's NOT RIGHT.
So I threw it to the garbage.
