This Atlas 7 inch Copper/Brass pepper mill is hand made in Greece using the same methods used for the past 300 years with durable all metal bodies and a tool steel grinding mechanism built to last. Atlas mills are the origin of the phrase "pepper grinder", since these mills actually grind the pepper. Common pepper mills only smash the peppercorns, which severely limits the flavor release. The Atlas mill is a unique piece of European tradition that is functionally the best in the world!

A friend recommended the Atlas grinders to me, after unsuccessful and long searches in retails stores to find an appropriate grinder. The pepper grinders have a coarse adjustment to obtain the right fineness of the grind. Note -- the salt mill will sometimes ship with the crank inside the mill so you may wish to check there before sending a note that it's missing (lesson learned). Also, the salt mill grinds the salt into a fine almost flake. If you're looking for a quality grinder, I recommend this brand.
