Its two ribbed plates are made from a stainless steel blend that offers resiliency, rigidity and resistance to corrosion from dry salts. When the mechanism is activated, the ribs work to twist and fracture each salt crystal to the desired size. Mill is 5-1/2-inches tall with a brushed nickel plate finish.

I never thought I would get so excited about salt, but I'm here to tell ya, this is a pretty cool little gadget! I hate to cook, so when I'm mic'ing hubby's store-bought prepared dinner and I hit it with fresh ground salt (and of course, pepper from the matching model), I feel like Julia Child! If you're in the market, I really love this brand and I do think it's worth it's ridiculous price.

We bought the salt grinder since we have the pepper grinder too. It works fine, but this salt grinder has no adjustment to change the level of coarseness. You get medium. Period. Now that's OK with using the salt package that comes with it, but it eliminates being able to use anything other than the coarse dry sea salt.

I happen to like Morton's Kosher Salt which works fine in our manual salt grinder. But in this Peugeot grinder, the salt literally leaks out of it because the Kosher salt pieces are too small. This grinder has to have the large crystal like salt pieces of sea salt.

What I should have done was simply buy another Pepper mill as that one does have the ability to change the level of coarseness of the grind.

Unfortunately, we tossed the packaging of this grinder before filling it and then realizing we'd have to use very specific dry sea salt.

If the salt mill had the same high output as the pepper mill it would have received 5 stars. Other than that, no complaints.
