By This review is from: Fox Run White Porcelain Salt Pig This one is my third attempt at finding a really good salt pig.The little ones with the spoon are just too tiny to fit your hand inside, and the spoon is always in the dishwasher because it would get grungy from hands in mid-cook mode. I found them fussy and irritating. This is my perfect salt pig. It's always open, so no fussy lid to get off to grab the pinch of salt you need. The curved top keeps it covered and clean and keeps the salt dry, even in humid Florida. Both my husband and myself can get our hand in and out easily: the mouth is really wide. The price is right. It's the best one yet, and I love it's little chunky shape. By Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?) This review is from: Fox Run White Porcelain Salt Pig Overall this salt pig is a pretty solid choice and suits my needs. It holds a great deal of salt in the receptacle, unlike the Le Creuset version and some others. I had some concerns about the size of the opening, but I was pleased to find that my husband, who has average-sized hands for a man, was able to fit his hand through the opening and can salt things without a problem. I definitely like the style of this salt pig better than those that open more towards the top because I don't really have to worry about food spatters or dust getting in the salt. The only reason I didn't give this salt pig 5 stars is that there are quite a few tiny pits in the finish, almost as if there were air bubbles in the glaze that popped while the piece was being fired. However, they're pretty small and you don't really notice them until you look closely. It didn't bother me enough to return the item. This review is from: Fox Run White Porcelain Salt Pig But I rather that I would have gotten a top load. Salt manages to get everywhere when I reach in because my hand always bumps the side as I'm coming out. Top load would have been better, but I'll make this one do until I get around to buying a top load. |
