This good quality slicer is a great product if you are OCD like me, who likes to keep the butter in good shape when entertaining. It's also great to use for everyday. My children like it, too, for easy spreading on toast. I like it for portion control.
It slices cold butter quickly, easily, and evenly. Before you slice, keep the butter stick on the opened wax wrapper. Make sure the butter is right-out-of-the-fridge cold when you slice it, or it would be kind of gooey and messy. After the slicer goes through the stick, turn the stick with the slicer still in it upside down to the wrapper side. Then, use the wrapper to push out the remaining part that hasn't gone through the slicer right onto a butter dish.
Clean up is easy. You may hand wash it in warm soapy water, or throw it in the dishwasher (that's what I do most of the time).
If this slicer breaks for any reason, I would definitely buy another one again.

Everything we expected...,

Works as advertised! One note of caution to make your first experience a little more positive: Open the stick of butter and let it sit on the waxed paper enclosure for about 30 minutes at room temperature. This will ensure the slicer performs as desired without damaging the wires. Then, as shared in another review, after slicing the butter turn the slicer upside down, waxed paper and all, and use the waxed paper to push the butter off the slicer. Having the butter sliced into patties helps with portion control and aesthetics when hosting guests. We brought four others for family holiday gifts as we know they will enjoy it as much as us. Simply put: buy it!

I was given my first butter slicer at a in-home party many years ago. I have used it constantly for over 25 years. When it came apart this summer, I had no idea that I would ever be able to replace it. I found this one and I bought it immediately. It was above and beyond my greatest expectations. It is well built, and should last for a very long time. When my daughter saw it Christmas, she asked where I bought it. Hers broke just recently, and she had no idea where she could replace it. Her order should be coming shortly.
