When our pestle broke on our old mortar/pestle I bought this after a recommendation from Cooks Illustrated. It works well but a four inch bowl is a bit small for my taste. Our old one was six inches which to me is just about perfect. Other than that minor complaint, this works well and is very attractive out on the counter.

I has this on my wish list and my dad purchased it for me. It works as supposed to, and I like it more than my other one because this one is way easier to clean.
