My wife wants to use this for everything after using it for two days. She loves it and is a delight to use. Sturdy construction and silky smooth and solid grind puts you at a considerable advantage over the poor peppercorns. Stays on the grind setting you choose. The Cinnabar color is luxurious and very "gourmet" looking. As an added bonus, for me anyway, is that the company is the same as I've purchased drum stick from since childhood (hence the "beats" pun). Vic Firth knows woods and lathing and it shows. I'm also happy to support the people of Maine and the wood they buy from Tennessee. At half the price of those snooty brands and twice the quality, this is the product for me. Vic Firth, please expand your product line!

I am a big believer in buying Made in the USA. I went to 5 stores including Bed Bath and Beyond. Looking for a pepper mill made in the USA....nothing. After a search I foung this one on Amazon.com for 39.95 Great price! The quality is far superior to everything else I have owned. I know it is just a pepper mill. However the grinder is metal not plastic. You can remove the internal parts for cleaning. The Mill is solid Cherry wood. I have been through 5 cheap pepper mills in the past. They cost almost the same, don't work half as good, last a couple of years, and are made in China. Do you have someone who is hard to buy for or is a cooking geek this could be the gift. Buy from Amazon they have the best price almost half off retail.

The pepper mill arrived quickly. It is just the right size for home use, and we do love our fresh cracked pepper. Solidly constructed of smoothly finished wood with an adjustable grinding mechanism, this pepper mill was worth all the time we spent looking for one that we can use and enjoy forever. Don't wait until you are 60 to invest in GOOD cooking equipment because you will just spend more money replacing junk and being annoyed with utensils that almost function.
