It's hardly surprising that a woodworker from Maine would be inspired by lighthouses. What may be a bit more newsworthy is that Vic Firth was a timpanist with the Boston Symphony Orchestra for nearly fifty years. During the last thirty-five years he has turned his attention to manufacturing the finest drumstick in the world. In keeping with his exacting standards, the same woodturning expertise is now being employed to produce peppermills and salt mills of the highest quality, among them this homage to his native scenery.
