Summary: Excellent, inexpensive, portable salt/peppermill 2010-07-08
Comment: Great product. This stainless steel version (peppermill) works perfectly for salt or pepper. This is a heavy-duty little device and grinds salt/pepper into a powdery (very fine) texture.

Comment: I bought this because I saw a waiter in a restaurant use this to add pepper to my salad. What I like about it: it is small and compact, and has a good weight to it. What I don't like...like most salt & pepper mills, it can leave a bit of a mess wherever you store it. It is also expensive, $18 for a pepper mill, but I allowed myself to splurge. I haven't yet refilled it.

Comment: I bought the Vic Firth Pump and Grind Stainless-Steel Pepper Mill for my son-in-law for Christmas. It arrived in good time and he loves it! He asked for two so he could have one for home and one for work. It's a very convenient size for travel, which means that it will need to be refilled frequently, the only drawback I could see. The stainless components look like they will be very durable.

Comment: I really love this grinder, I think it is one of the best looking compact manual mills out there.
Except, the crushed pepper comes out a little coarser than I'd like them to be, it doesn't match it's elegant look, I would have expected a finer grind... but I really do like its simple construction and the nice feel of the stainless steel.
Secondly, the pump could be a little hard to push down sometimes, and it is a little annoying when the pump gets stuck in mid push.
Overall though, I love this mill. Thinking of getting the salt mill too!!
