This is a fine electric mill. Love the light and the push button on the top and side. Only thing I don't like is its a little noisy.

Surface deteriorated,
March 17, 2011 This review is from: WMF Ceramill Electric Salt/Pepper Mill (Kitchen)
I bought this mill a few years back and always liked its performance. It ground peppercorns effortlessly and reliably, so no complaints in that regard.
However, I recently wanted to use it again after having kept it on the shelf in the dining room for a good while (several months) and much to my chagrin the soft-touch rubberized surface had deteriorated and turned extremely sticky. My first thought was that maybe something had somehow gotten onto the mill. I tried to wash it off with warm water first, then dish detergent - all to no avail. Let me start by saying this is the first auto-pepper/salt-grinder I have used, so I have no basis for comparison.
The good: The mill is well made, and seems to be powerful enough. It grinds at an appropriate speed, and the finish is easy to grip and clean. The light helps to see how much pepper you are putting on your food. It is consistently commented on. There are two buttons to start the grinding. The ceramic grinding mechanism does not clog, and seems to be durable. The batteries seem to have good life. The hole to refill is quite large enough (I always hated the traditional holes to fill grinders, requiring some maneuvers with a sheet of paper as a cone or some other funnel device).
The not so good: Loud--when you add pepper, everyone notices. The finish is nice, but probably better suited to a kitchen rather than a dining room. After grinding, there will be pepper left over in the bottom (partially crushed that will fall out on the counter/table once...Read more
