Although the wood is nice, unfortunately it does not grind at all, twist it one way or another it won't work. Now it's only a decoration in the kitchen

I bought this to replace a grinder I purchased at Bed Bath and Beyond. I dropped it and the bottom portion broke, so I purchased this to replace it. The wood is nice, and it seems sturdy. The only problem I'm having with this one is when I turn it, the ball on top comes loose and I have to continually tighten it. I only turn it in one direction, and it still comes loose. for that I give it 3 stars. otherwise for the price, it would have gotten 5 stars if the mechanics of it worked properly.

On my first day of use, I washed this in lukewarm water and the boards twisted - could not even handle about 70 degree F temprature
